SouthEastern Meat Association To Hold Annual Conference This Week
Members of SouthEastern Meat Association will hold its annual conference next week in Daytona Beach, Florida.
The SouthEastern Meat Association (SEMA) is an organization of people or businesses who are in the meat processing industry. The group provides networking, partnership, and educational opportunities to it members said SEMA Executive Director Cheryl Hudson.
“We have over 220 people, exhibitors and companies attending,” Hudson said. “It is a great place to learn about new trends in the industry and an excellent opportunity to network and make partnerships.”
Garrett Self, an Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) certified energy manager who works as an account executive for SmartWatt, a nationwide energy systems optimization firm that is a member of SEMA, will be one of the 56 exhibitors. Self will also be holding a workshop to educate attendees on the best approach to solar PV design and installation. During the presentation, he will talk about the benefits of solar PV, federal and utility incentives available, financing options and more.
“I look forward to the conference and spreading the word about Solar PV and how solar projects can improve the bottom line for businesses in the meat processing and packing industry,” Self said.
SmartWatt, which is also North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) Solar PV Certified, has helped more than 17,000 businesses across the United States become more energy efficient. Self says that the company’s unique approach helps customers get the most out of their existing buildings and energy systems.
“We approach each project with the goal to reduce a customer’s energy consumption, save money on energy and maintenance fees while improving comfort and productivity,” Self said of SmartWatt. “To achieve that goal with solar projects, we have to first make the facility efficient so that we the project isn’t larger than it has to be.”
To learn more about energy efficiency and renewable energy projects, attendees are encouraged to visit SmartWatt’s booth as well as Self’s presentation: “Energy Efficiency Opportunities at Meat Processing and Packaging Plants” on Friday June 9th from 1:30 pm to 2:15 pm in Coquina Rooms A & B.
