Madison County: Bundled Energy Project
Madison County, located in Central New York, partnered with SmartWatt to complete a bundled energy systems optimization project throughout its campus in Wampsville, NY. The mix of different building types included a jail, a maintenance garage, a courthouse and several county office buildings. The primary reasons the county was interested in completing this project, included maintenance burden, occupant discomfort, and achievement of net zero energy usage.
To reduce maintenance, enhance occupant comfort and achieve sustainability goals, the county implemented a bundled energy systems optimization project. The project was funded through an energy performance contract, requiring no up-front capital and the ability to use the guaranteed energy savings to pay for the project. The energy systems optimization solution included new mechanical and lighting systems, building envelope upgrades, the addition of tint film to windows, and optimization of the existing building automation system.
This energy systems optimization project has resulted in reduced maintenance, enhanced occupant comfort, and a positive impact on the local community.
Project cost: $2.95M
County contribution: $0
